“From Struggle to Success” It is all about the team
There are many factors that are responsible for the success or the failure of your startup. Most of the people blame the lack of financial support for the failure of their business. We think that the team behind and its motivation are the main factors that will lead to success. Choosing the right people will make the difference.
In this article we will introduce to you Rashid Aliyev from Azerbaijan, a founder and a CEO of BethClip (www.bethclip.com). The success of his company is built around great team members and their motivation.
1. What is your idea/ business about? How the idea was born?
BethClip is a unique solution, which allows you to copy and paste data between different operational systems with a single click. BethClip’s name comes from the root of two words Between – Beth and Clipboard – Clip.
BethClip is a smart cloud clipboard /data sync service.
The idea was born from a problem. People are rapidly copying and pasting data between multiple devices and spending a lot of time to use e-mail or file sync services. This action takes so much time and effort. For example, if you sent an image to yourself over email and then go to another device, you need to find the email, open it, copy or download it and, then, go to the application and paste it there. We found the way to make it easier, by using BethClip, you just need to do a copy action on the selected text, image, file or other, and it will push it to our cloud storage, from where automatically it will be sent to your other devices. On the end device, you need to do a paste action.
There is no need to switch to any App. or to keep BethClip open, because it runs in the background and monitors the clipboard.
2. Tell me about yourself and your team?
I’m a serial entrepreneur and I have already had one successful exit startup.
The team behind BethClip consists of four members. Samir Yahyazada is the CTO of the company. He is a US Citizen who lives in New York and has many years of experience working for big game software development companies, such as “Yoon” and “High 5 Games”.
Saddam Bilalov is a developer in BethClip. He graduated with Applied Mathematics and currently is studying Masters of Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh. He is responsible for the development for Android OS;
The fourth member of our team is Onar Alili. He is as well a developer. He has a lot of experience, working as a software developer on all Windows platforms for a big local company.
3. What are the main struggles that you have experienced?
One of the main struggles was to collect a stable team for the entire project. The second problem, that we experienced, was to get publicity on big or context media. It’s still hard to get posts about us in the US or the worldwide media. Most of the time, they do not want to promote non-Western startups.
4. How did you solve your problems?
We are trying to expand our network, going to events, writing to bloggers etc. We also found new developers that we have outsourced.
5. If you had a chance what would you do differently?
I will rebuild everything from scratch, outsource most of the development part and move to San Francisco to start everything there.
6. What was the best advice you got and what was the worst?
- Best advise: Continue and look for partnership with telcos (mobile operators).
- Worst advise: To patent everything first and, then, to start development;
7. What will be your advice to the other entrepreneurs?
First. Never give up!
Second. If a team member does not work or misses deadlines for two or more weeks without any understandable reasons, just kick him out from the project and find another one. With him or without, you will lose the same amount of time. But, if you keep him, you will also lose money.
Another interesting thing about BethClip is that they have been nominated to WSA 2015 award. If you want to learn more about the company, you are more than welcome to contact them at: email@example.com
