Confidence is one of the keys that will unlock the door of success. As simple as it may sound that is a big issue for so many entrepreneurs. Self-double and fear of making mistakes are usually the reasons to stop moving forward. We all must understand that is better to speak out and share our opinion or ideas even if we have a big concern that they will not be accepted, than to keep quiet.

Kirsten Asher saw this huge problem of low confidence and she came up with a solution, called Develop Your DASH. She is a coach and speaker for Young Professionals.

1. What is your idea/ business about? How the idea was born?

DASH is you. It’s the path you take, the people who come in and out of your life, it’s what you do, it’s the ups and downs, the choices you make, it’s your life, your DASH. I feel that a lot of times in the workplace young professionals tend to minimize themselves or pass on speaking up in fear that the answer might be wrong or not feeling worthy enough to communicate or make a decision. From this Develop Your DASH was born.

Develop your DASH is about empowering young professionals to be purposeful leaders whether independently or in the workplace. Discover their natural talents, learn how to use them authentically and effectively while living their DASH, their life. They will have the understanding of who they are at their core, know how to communicate and understand how to work with an open mind. To be able to see different points of views/perspectives, know how to listen authentically, be able to stand out and be memorable. Ultimately learning how to thrive, rise up as a leader and be purposeful.

2. Tell me about yourself and your team?

My team is me. However, I do have an amazing support group of men and women.

3. What are the main struggles that you have experienced?

The main struggles are knowing where and when I need to out source to someone who has a better knowledge base of a certain task. As an entrepreneur I want to do it all, but I am not as well versed in some areas as someone who does websites for example – so in order to be efficient I will out source when I can to someone who can do it 100%.

4. How did you solve your problems?

I learned from those around me to outsource or to ask questions when I am unsure of something.

5. If you had a chance what would you do in differently?

I would have developed my business plan and niche more before I put myself out there. I had a few growing pains by being too broad and no clear direction. I would take a few months and really hone in on all the odds and ends before I jumped. But then again, jumping was very helpful too.

6. What was the best advice you got and what was the worst?

The best advice was to create a niche and narrow focus into that niche. So many times we want to be too broad to serve everyone, but if our message is clear enough those people in the broad group will see how authentic your voice is and gravitate towards you.

The worst was someone who was trying to push me in a complete different direction that “they’ thought I should do, not what I felt driven to do. I guess that’s not really a business advice…but it definitely taught me a lot.

7. What will be your advice to the other entrepreneurs?

To surround yourself by people who support you and are open to your brain dumps and vise versa. To have someone or a group of people around you who celebrate your wins instead of try to keep you down or are envious. That has been the best and most amazing experience as I was starting. That coupled with the feeling I get when I am able to empower a women or group of women to feel comfortable in their skin and really see their potential and the strengths they have is just utterly amazing!
