“From Struggle to Success” Build your web presence
There are so many reasons why entrepreneurs should build their web presence. It is the most cost effective way to advertise and spread your idea and product. The first place where people will look for your product will be the internet; that is why as strong as your presence is as easy your customers and supporters will find you.
There are many techniques that can be used for this purpose. An example can be using the right SEO practice. More about the topic will be released by Sergios Charalambous. He is a CEO and co-founder of SoftwareCy together with his brother Xenios Charalambous.
1. What is your idea/ business about? How the idea was born?
SoftwareCy is a consultancy agency that helps other businesses to get their online presence. To accomplish the online presence of other businesses we offer services such as website design, search engine optimization (SEO), online marketing, website hosting, registration of domains and penetration testing.
The idea to create SoftwareCy was initially born because I used to be a software developer for various companies in the past but I was always doing freelance work, therefore I decided to create my own consultancy agency in order to serve clients.
2. Tell me about yourself and your team?
I studied information technology and worked for one of biggest IT companies worldwide (Cisco System), which is based in the Silicon Valley. I worked in Silicon Valley and then in London, where I gained a lot of experience in web technologies. Later on I decided to come back in Cyprus where I worked for a few other companies and then I decided to start my own company with my brother Xenios Charalambous.
The other founder of SoftwareCy is my brother Xenios Charalambous who specializes in online marketing and networking. Xenios is currently based in UK and we communicate by phone or Skype in order to take decisions about our business.
3. What are the main struggles that you have experienced?
One of the main struggles at the beginning was to finally make the decision to go ahead and launch SoftwareCy. The second struggle was to take the risk to quit the job I was doing at that time. Therefore, it was a risky and important decision for me. Another major struggle at the beginning was how to move forward and start finding clients.
4. How did you solve your problems?
As mentioned above, our main struggle was how we would find clients. We solved this with my cofounder by using several marketing strategies. Those strategies included word of mouth, online marketing, magazines, radio adverts and leaflets.
5. If you had a chance what would you do in differently?
SoftwareCy started operating in May 2015 therefore even if I had the chance to change something it would not have been of any major importance at the moment. Possibly something which I would consider in the future is to have a better location for my office so that in this way I can also attract pedestrians to walk in our office.
6. What was the best advice you got and what was the worst?
I would like to share only the best advices I got until now. The first one was from my manager in Cisco Systems, Cindy Lain. She kept saying to me that one day I will become a CEO of my own company and not to be stuck in just IT and software development because she saw my talent in people management, sales and marketing.
7. What will be your advice to the other entrepreneurs?
My advice to other entrepreneurs is that if you have an idea, just do it and do not get discouraged by your friends or other people. If you don’t implement your idea you will never find out if it will work out or not.
