Business environment is changing fast. New technologies are introduced everyday, setting new customers expectations and requirements. Many companies and entrepreneurs face this problem and for Brian Winch this was one of the main struggles. He is founder of Winch Enterprise.
In this article he will share with you what was his solution to his struggles.
1. What is your idea/ business about? How the idea was born?
I am an owner of a parking lot litter cleanup service and I am a writer.
Cleanlots is an ebook that details how to start and operate a simple ‘green’ litter cleanup service outside commercial properties. This book is written by me, sharing my 35 years experience and expertise in this topic.
2. Tell me about yourself and your team?
I’m 55 years of age. I started my business when I was 21. I was looking to start a simple, low cost, home based business. A prospective client asked if I’d be interested in keeping his three commercial properties litter free. I recalled my late father used to do this as a sideline to his regular job. I took this opportunity to begin what has turned into a 35 year career. I manage an operation of 10 people responsible for cleaning 150 properties with yearly sales of $650,000.00.
3. What are the main struggles that you have experienced?
Keeping up with ever evolving forms of communication. When I started there were no cell phones, Internet or social media. You have to go where your customers are.
4. How did you solve your problems?
We solved our problems by adapting and being flexible. My motto is: “Adapt or become irrelevant.”
5. If you had a chance what would you do in differently?
No regrets. You must live for today and tomorrow.
6. What was the best advice you got and what was the worst?
- Best – “Never give up.”
- Worst – “Don’t worry. Things will work out.” They won’t if you do nothing.
